Well, it really does only make sense because then if we have a fence on the border with Canada, the Mexicans won't be offended or cry out racial profiling when we eventually build a fence on the Mexican border. We cannot be seen as an unfair or discriminating country.

Kind of like how we need to shakedown gray haired old women at airports so we don't offend muslims. Am I right?

Being a self employed entrepreneurial business owner I have long held that all taxpayers should have to deal with the IRS the say way we do -- by writing them a check every quarter.  If everyone did this, and actually got to "touch" the money before Uncle Sam gets it, we would have a tax revolt of stunning proportions overnight.

And there it is folks... The twisted mentality of the liberal, of obama, and this entire destructive administration.

No. The point of government is not to GIVE...

If you believe that then you believe the point of government is to TAKE because the government has nothing to give and must take it away from someone first to give it to whom they determine to be worthy.

This mentality is anti-American and worst of all anti-Constitution.

These people must be routed from our government permanently and politically destroyed...

Movies like Trading Places only reveal that, at the directorial and script-writing level at least, Hollywood knows absolutely nothing about the business world. It reminds me of Ludwig von Mises' description of Lenin in the opening pages of Socialism. Von Mises points to a passage in Lenin's writing where the great Revolutionary leader proclaims that all there is to running a business is tallying up the profits as they roll in. Anyone with a little math can do it. Therefore, in order to establish justice in the world, all that was necessary was for the Bolshevik vanguard to wrestle the means of production out of the hands of the capitalists and run them for the good of the people. Lenin had the "grocery boy's view of business," writes von Mises, and it is not surprising, based on this short passage alone, that every socialist and communist economy that ever existed has quickly sunk into squalor almost as soon as the new leadership took over.

You Can’t Tax the Rich

You Can’t Tax the Rich - Thomas Sowell - National Review Online

The problem is, people are too stupid to get this simple fact. Economics are dynamic, not static.

If someone steps up and swings a bat at your head, you move. Especially if you got hit the first time. You don't just stand there and take it over and over. To do so would mean you are oblivious to any and all outside influences. Yet this is what Dems think business people and the rich will do if they increase taxes on them. They think people will just stand there, static.

On another note, using this mentality is how the CBO scores bills, which makes the CBO estimates of the cost of bills meaningless to those of us that understand dynamic economics.

ARTICLE QUOTES:
Since grandiose narcissism is the standard neurosis of the Left, we are now seeing the downside, when their ego trips run into reality. Narcissists don't act nice when reality turns on them. Humility is not in their vocabulary. If you've ever known any major narcissists you know what to expect. What on earth will he do when it finally becomes apparent to him that he will lose the election?

Today, Jimmy Carter still thinks he was right in 1979. These people are dangerous.

Economic earthquakes are now starting in the Middle East and Europe, and we will feel the shocks very soon, at a time when the US economy is teetering on the brink of another recession. The Democrats' response will be to try to cut down our military.

This administration cannot admit failure, it cannot take responsibility, and it will not fade gracefully. Today its union surrogates are freely using the word "war" for the coming election. Narcissistic rage is their standard reaction to rational resistance; we've seen it in the vicious way they keep trashing good and decent people who threaten their power. If the liberals have their way the election of 2012 will be obscene.

The Democrats are starting to run away from this administration, hoping we will forget who put Obama into power. We have enough voters who are ignorant, blind or brainwashed to make that possible.

Jew versus Jew

Of course, progressives turn a blind's eye to the fact that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. Hence, Israeli women are not enshrouded in a burqa, and gays are not stoned to death. Progressivism is an inconsistent and illogical ideology.

Obama Wants Fairness More than Jobs

Dems resent that conservatives know how to make $ and they do not. They work diligently to steal it from them in every way possible. Every dem policy evolves from and leads to this point. Envy of others and the desire to destroy those more successful than themselves is a very petty and shall I say SELFISH way to live a life.

How Obama Could Win

Thomas Sowell

September 14, 2011 12:00 A.M.
How Obama Could Win

He could follow FDR’s example.

Some people are hoping that President Obama’s plan will get the economy out of the doldrums and start providing jobs for the unemployed. Others are hoping that the Republicans’ plan will do the trick.

Those who are truly optimistic hope that Democrats and Republicans will put aside their differences and do what is best for the country.

Almost nobody seems to be hoping that the government will leave the economy alone to recover on its own. Indeed, almost nobody seems at all interested in looking at the hard facts about what happens when the government leaves the economy alone, compared with what happens when politicians intervene.

The grand myth that has been taught to whole generations is that the government is “forced” to intervene in the economy when there is a downturn that leaves millions of people suffering. The classic example is the Great Depression of the 1930s.

What most people are unaware of is that there was no Great Depression until after politicians started intervening in the economy.

There was a stock market crash in October 1929 and unemployment shot up to 9 percent — for one month. Then unemployment started drifting back down until it was 6.3 percent in June 1930, when the first major federal intervention took place.

That was the Smoot-Hawley tariff bill, which more than 1,000 economists across the country pleaded with Congress and President Hoover not to enact. But then, as now, politicians decided that they had to “do something.”

Within six months, unemployment hit double digits. Then, as now, when “doing something” made things worse, many felt that the answer was to do something more.

Both President Hoover and President Roosevelt did more — and more and more. Unemployment remained in double digits for the remainder of the decade. Indeed, unemployment topped 20 percent and remained there for 35 months, stretching from the Hoover administration into the Roosevelt administration.

That is how the government was “forced” to intervene during the Great Depression. Intervention in the economy is like eating potato chips: You can’t stop with just one.

What about the track record of doing nothing? For the first century and a half of this nation, that was essentially what the federal government did: nothing. None of the downturns in all that time ever lasted as long as the Great Depression.

An economic downturn in 1920–21 sent unemployment up to 12 percent. Pres. Warren Harding did nothing, except for cutting government spending. The economy quickly rebounded on its own.

In 1987, when the stock market declined more in one day than it had in any day in 1929, Ronald Reagan did nothing. There were outcries and outrage in the media. But Reagan still did nothing.

That downturn not only rebounded, it was followed by 20 years of economic growth, marked by low inflation and low unemployment.

The Obama administration’s policies are very much like the policies of the Roosevelt administration during the 1930s. FDR not only smothered business with an unending stream of new regulations, he spent unprecedented sums of money, running up record deficits — despite having raised taxes on high-income earners to levels that confiscated well over half their earnings.

Like Obama today, FDR blamed the country’s economic problems on his predecessor, making Hoover a pariah. Yet six years after Hoover was gone, and nearly a decade after the stock-market crash, unemployment hit 20 percent again in the spring of 1939.

Doing nothing may have a better track record in the economy, but government intervention has a better political record in getting presidents reelected.

People who say that Barack Obama cannot be reelected with unemployment at its current level should take note that Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected a record four times, despite two consecutive terms in which unemployment was never as low as it is today.

Economic reality is one thing. But political impressions are something very different — and all too often it is the political impressions which determine the fate of an administration and the fate of a nation.

I think that America would be well served pitting the entire GOP field against the current Administration. Who on the Right would be uncomfortable with Newt as Secretary of State or Bachmann as head of DHS (although I think that Paul would make a better Secretary of the Treasury than SECDEF)? I think the entire group on stage the other night should be included in the coming Administration. How powerful would it be if they started running like that right now?

Here's a jobs plan:

Washington76 [Moderator] 1 hour ago
Here's my jobs plan:

1. DRILL BABY, DRILL! Enact a public policy for all federal agencies to follow: "It is the policy of the United States of America that the nation shall achieve complete energy independence and become one of the world's top ten exporters of oil." Set a barely realistic timeline to achieve that goal. Eliminate administrative obstacles to achieving that goal.

2. Immediately strike all EPA regulations that were proposed after January 1, 2006; indefinitely suspend all rulemaking authority by EPA; permanently remove all EPA authority over any gas that is a component of "air." Permanently remove all EPA authority over "fracking" operations; reduce the EPA budget in real terms to the level it had in 2000.

3. Reduce DOE budget by 50%.

4. Fast track construction of 20 nuclear plants in "red" states; require one in four such plants to be breeder reactors.

5. Strike all regulations concerning coal production or use that were proposed after January 1, 2006.

6. Permanently cut corporate income tax to just below that of Ireland; impose three year moratorium on collection of any corporate income taxes for businesses earning less than $1billion per year.

7. Construct 5 new petroleum refineries in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida (1 each), and statutorily require that for every refinery that is retired from service a new refinery with 110% capacity of the retiring one be built with no gap in service.

8. Eliminate the diesel tax.

9. Strike all CAFE regulations.

10. Strike the income tax code for all individuals and small businesses, replace with the Fair Tax. Mandate that no tax return under the Fair Tax may be longer than one side of one 8.5x11 inch page, with font at least 10pt.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

Conservatives vs. the Keynesian Purists

Conservatives vs. the Keynesian Purists

ARTICLE QUOTE REGARDING KEYNESIANS:

"They have an inherent lack of faith in the private sector and by extension the American people."

Comment from American Thinker:
Pescator Today 08:17 AM
The basic problem with Keynesian economics is what a previous article in the AT described as the phenomenon of Ceteris Paribus. Roughly translated this means: all else being equal. Keynes and his followers developed a formula for the GNP which contains government spending. Thus, if the GNP falls (as in a recession in the business cycle), this can be negated by increased government spending. The problem is that everything else is NOT being equal. The act of increased government spending alters other facets of the economy. The first thing that is altered is the money supply (the increased government spending is done with borrowed money). This adds to inflation. The second thing that is altered is that spending of money (the Keynesian stimulus) is taken away from the Market. That is to say, it is no longer the Market but the government that determines how the money is spent. One can guarantee that the choice of beaurocrats is not what the Market needs. The misallocation of resources will slow the economy. We have seen this in the Great Depression and we are seeing it now with the Obama regime. Lots of Americans lack the knowledge of how the economy works. The citizen who remarked that Obama would provide her with money from "his stash" was greeted with indulgent smiles from the Media. 'How charming' was their reaction. In reality, alarm bells should have been ringing.
