Krauthammer: How Obama Is Trying to Change America
http://nation.foxnews.com/president-obama/2011/08/30/krauthammer-how-obama-trying-change-america
Charles Krauthammer shows how Obama enacts laws that were rejected by Congress by regulatory fiat (by dictate) and what is O'Reilly's response?
He says "Well, that's interesting."
This is why I stopped watching O'Reilly. His continuous aloofness at the obvious made me a fool to watch him any longer.

Texas Wind Energy Fails, Again

When the temperature goes up, the wind dies down. I know some will say 'correlation is not causation' but clearly the fact this is happening kills the argument that wind power is what is needed to produce more supply of electricity. Doesn't it? Or do facts simply still not matter when liberalism and wacko environmentalism are involved?

Reducing Taxes is not...
Reducing Taxes is not a 'government expenditure' or spending on behalf of the government. To think otherwise means you believe the government is the initial owner of all things monetary and what we have left to live on after taxes are taken from our paychecks is a government program in and of itself. Taking money from citizens is not a government 'program' but when tax cuts are touted, they are spoken of as if some almighty program will suffer. NO, the people that earned the money will just get to keep more of the fruits of their labor.
It is just madness and we need to take back this language if nothing else over the next 1.5 years.

Legal Obedience
Legal Obedience
By Walter E. Williams
8/24/2011
What laws are we morally obligated to obey? Help with the answer can be found in "Economic Liberty and the Constitution," a 66-page pamphlet by Jacob G. Hornberger, founder and president of The Future of Freedom Foundation.
Hornberger offers a hypothetical whereby Congress enacts a compulsory church attendance law that requires children to attend church service each Sunday. Parents are penalized if their children fail to comply. Would there be any moral or constitutional legitimacy to such a congressional mandate? The law would be a clear violation of one's natural, or God-given, rights to life and liberty. As to whether it would be constitutional, we have to see whether mandating church attendance is one of those enumerated powers of Congress found in Article 1, Section 8 of our Constitution. We'd find no such authority. Our anti-federalist Founding Fathers didn't trust Congress with religious liberty, so they sought to protect it with the First Amendment to explicitly deny Congress the power to mandate religious conduct. Suppose there's widespread popular support for a church-going mandate and the U.S. Supreme Court rules it constitutional; do Americans have a moral obligation to obey the law?
You might say, "Williams, while there are gray areas in the Constitution, the U.S. Supreme Court would never brazenly rule against clear constitutional prohibitions!" That's nonsense. The first clause of Article 1, Section 10 mandates that "No State shall ... pass any ... Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts." During the Great Depression, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a Minnesota law that restricted the ability of banks to foreclose on overdue mortgages, thereby impairing contracts made between lender and borrower. To prevent this kind of contract impairment -- routinely done under the Articles of Confederation -- was precisely why the Framers added the clause.
Another, perhaps more egregious example of the Supreme Court's impairing contracts came during President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, when the government nationalized gold and made it a felony for any American to own gold. Not only was gold ownership made illegal but it nullified all "gold clauses" in private and government contracts. Writing contracts in gold was a way people protected themselves against government theft, namely inflation. The Supreme Court upheld federal nationalization of gold and nullification of gold contracts in the famous Gold Clause Cases. Today many Americans have turned to gold, driving its price to an all-time high, as a safeguard against what they see as pending inflation. Here's my question to you: If Obama and Congress enacted a law demanding that you turn in your gold, would you be morally obligated to obey such a law?
Decent people should not obey immoral laws. What's moral and immoral can be a contentious issue, but there are some broad guides for deciding what laws and government actions are immoral. Lysander S. Spooner, one of America's great 19th-century thinkers, said no person or group of people can "authorize government to destroy or take away from men their natural rights; for natural rights are inalienable, and can no more be surrendered to government -- which is but an association of individuals -- than to a single individual." French economist/philosopher Frederic Bastiat (1801-50) gave a test for immoral government acts: "See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime." He added in his book "The Law," "When law and morality contradict each other, the citizen has the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense or losing his respect for the law."
After reading Hornberger's "Economic Liberty and the Constitution," one cannot avoid the conclusion that the liberties envisioned by the nation's founders have been under siege, trivialized and nullified. Philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe explained that "no one is as hopelessly enslaved as the person who thinks he's free." That's becoming an apt description for Americans who are oblivious to -- or ignorant of -- the liberties we've lost.

Why Obama Can't Lead
Articles: Why Obama Can't Lead
Shawny Today 05:36 AM
In my view it's a little simpler than not being able to lead. He cannot win reelection leading with a socialist agenda rejected by the majority of the American people nor successfully make his "transformations" through normal legislative means and he knows it. In order to get where he is he had to compaign on lies and half truths. In order to continue to make changes he cannot afford to be called out as what he is. But while congress is in gridlock and looks void of leadership, in the background Obama is leading. He is leading through appointments who regulate his agenda items into law in defiance of congress and the supreme court. He is leading through executive fiat those changes which congress would not pass. He is end-running, side-lining, marginalizing the two other branches of our government, picking and choosing which laws will or will not be applied or enforced. He is walking over the soveriegnty of every state and our nation as well as intervening in foriegn countries with no regard for their soveriegnty. If he has failed to lead by our historic standards perhaps it is because he feels the station he has been elected to is beneath him and so are we.

The broken window fallacy. He has used it many times before so I don't doubt one bit that he said this. Of course, repairing quake damage only returns us to the previous state consuming resources that could have been used for growth but, if one uses the post quake state as the new standard to measure from, then it would lead to growth but, only in a very perverted sense. The same growth generated by the broken window. We just have to not count the opportunity lost.

"Multiple-Party governments are a historical novelty. The Founders wrote the Constitution to secure free speech and free debate. But they were realists. They understood that it took moral courage for free citizens to speak out. That is why Ben Franklin said, walking out of the Constitutional Convention on the last day, "A Republic --- if you can keep it."

Liberal 'Compromise'

Liberal Compromise? There is no such thing...
A liberal's idea of compromise is how willing are conservatives to sit down, shut up, and do what we want them to do. That is the liberal definition of compromise.
"Fortunately, the public is catching on. Obama's approval numbers are plummeting because he has lost all credibility. Like Democrats in general, he has cried wolf once too often, and Americans are no longer even listening."

Perry is doing an all out attack on liberal sacrosanct ideas right now I think to really rattle their cage and get them to expend all the ammo they have on him now. They won't have much left by the time election rolls around. It is a good military strategy to expose the enemy on your terms not theirs, for once. It is like going on a patrol to actively seek out the enemy by probing their defenses and rushing hard and fast toward the enemy when they ambush you.

Cuba/United States
This past July, we had the pleasure of sharing a summer barbecue with a
refugee from Cuba.
Our dinner conversation was starkly different than most.
This refugee came to the United States as a young boy in the early 1960s.
His family was more fortunate than most as they were able to bring a
suitcase and $100 when they fled Castro's newly formed revolutionary
paradise.
Our dinner consisted of all-American fare:
hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon and fresh ears of sweet corn.
This is a menu shared with family and friends nationwide, while celebrating
the birth of our
beloved America on the Fourth of July.
We began with a simple discussion about our country and the direction it has
taken since Barack Obama came to
power.
We shared the usual complaints about the sour economy and liberal social
engineering emanating from the rulers in Washington.
But then he said it.
The sentence came naturally.
I assume it was unplanned.
But it carried the weight of a freight train.
"You know when Castro took power, none of us knew he was a Communist."
We sat stunned.
He continued, "Yes, we all thought he was a patriot, a nationalist.
Before the revolution he didn't sound like a radical."
The comparison at this point was easy, and I interjected,
"You mean just like Barack Obama?"
He responded, "Yes, just like Barack Obama."
He continued, "We were all shocked as the government just continued to grab
more power. First they said the revolution is over, so please turn in your
guns. We all complied."
"I remember my uncle saying after it started,
'Castro will only nationalize some of the big industries, he will never come
and take our family hardware store.'
But that is exactly what happened, Castro started with the sugar mills and
the large industries, but they eventually came and knocked on the door of
our family hardware store. My family had run this store for generations.
They said we now own the hardware store, you work for us. And that nice,
large four-bedroom home you own, it is now our property also, and you can
move yourself and five children into two rooms of the house because others
are moving in with you."
The lesson learned from this discussion is a lesson most Americans refuse to
hear. Political leaders can lie about
their agenda and once in office they can take totally unexpected turns.
If you had asked us three years ago if we thought General Motors would be
nationalized, we would have never believed it. We could never contemplate a
country where the rule of law, the most fundamental building block of a
justice society would be evaporating just like it did in Castro's Cuba in
the early 1960s.
But the news of injustice keeps increasing.
Black Panthers are not charged with wrongdoing by the U.S. Department of
Justice because their crimes are against whites.
The bondholders of GM are stripped of their assets without due process by
the government.
Governmental leaders are bribed in full daylight only to have all
investigation of the crimes stifled by the Attorney General.
The U.S. borders are overrun with crime and illegal activity and the leaders
in D.C. act as if it is important to protect the lawbreakers while the
innocent are killed and overrun.
When local communities attempt to enforce the law, they are ridiculed and
threatened as racists and bigots. They
are sued by the very administration entrusted with enforcing the law.
Without the rule of law the U.S. Constitution is a sham.
Without the rule of law our beloved America is swiftly becoming a country
where only the well connected and politically powerful will be safe.
As Michelle Malkin has so eloquently explained in her recent book,
a culture of corruption has replaced honest government.
The only way this problem will be fixed is by massive citizen action.
All honest citizens that want to be treated equally must come together and
demand that the favoritism, the bribes, the uneven enforcement of law end
now.
And yes, it can happen here.
* A year ago I made the statement that "I didn't believe the President knows
what he is doing."
My friend said "Oh yes he does".
Back then I didn't know what she meant.
Today I realize she was right. He does know exactly what he is doing.*

A succinct indictment of Obama (and Liberalism).
In the hopefully near future when someone describes a bad policy, all they will have to say is "that sounds like something Obama would have done" and therefore be absolutely a horrible idea. Or the word 'obama' becomes a synonym for 'error'. For example: "I almost made a huge obama on that one."

If real unemployment is around 20%, wouldn't his approval rate also be around 30%? Given all the fudging of numbers that goes on to pump good news and downplay the bad? I think it is very possible that an average 10% number fudge is inherent in most things political.

Just because he said it many times and believes it, does not make it true. When a liberal makes an assumption, they carry on like it is fact. Even as slow and lethargic as it seems to those of us eager to point things in the "right" direction. This speaks to the need for the people to remain involved in the process and not just pay attention at election time, when politicians bark popularity slogans in the hope we don't question them too much. Those days should be over. We must get involved and most important - STAY INVOLVED. Get educated in economics and learn the history of the policies being pushed upon us. The policies are not new on either side, just packaged different for our time.

This is the monster of a growing government and must be stopped.

HOW TO FIX CONGRESS. REALLY. FOREVER !!!
This is bipartisan in nature and is going to both Democrat and Republican. We should all seriously consider helping with the change suggested below. This is something I will fight for and I hope you will too. This is short so please read it all the way through and then forward. You will be glad you did.
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.
I'm asking each citizens to send to a minimum of just three people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.
Congressional Reform Act of 2013
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/14. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

This means that ninety-four percent (94%) of likely U.S. Voters do not think Congress is doing a good job. That's why there are votes galore to be had on this issue.

Nothing bad about that but when it comes to our legislators, it is detrimental to us, the people. Ignorance, Stupidity or Connivance?
By Walter E. Williams

President Barack Obama has called for a luxury tax on corporate jets as a means to generate revenue to fight federal deficits. The president's economic advisers ought to be fired for not telling him that doing so is unwise and counterproductive. They might have already told him so, only to have the president say, "Look, I know you're right, but I'm exploiting the public's envy of the rich!" Let's look at what happened when Obama's predecessor George H.W. Bush signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990 and broke his "read my lips" vow not to agree to new taxes.
When Congress imposed a 10 percent luxury tax on yachts, private airplanes and expensive automobiles, Sen. Ted Kennedy and then-Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell crowed publicly about how the rich would finally be paying their fair share of taxes. What actually happened is laid out in a Heartland Institute blog post by Edmund Contoski titled "Economically illiterate Obama, re: Corporate Jets" (7/12/2011).
Within eight months after the change in the law took effect, Viking Yachts, the largest U.S. yacht manufacturer, laid off 1,140 of its 1,400 employees and closed one of its two manufacturing plants. Before it was all over, Viking Yachts was down to 68 employees. In the first year, one-third of U.S. yacht-building companies stopped production, and according to a report by the congressional Joint Economic Committee, the industry lost 7,600 jobs. When it was over, 25,000 workers had lost their jobs building yachts, and 75,000 more jobs were lost in companies that supplied yacht parts and material. Ocean Yachts trimmed its workforce from 350 to 50. Egg Harbor Yachts went from 200 employees to five and later filed for bankruptcy. The U.S., which had been a net exporter of yachts, became a net importer as U.S. companies closed. Jobs shifted to companies in Europe and the Bahamas. The U.S. Treasury collected zero revenue from the sales driven overseas.
Back then, Congress told us that the luxury tax on boats, aircraft and jewelry would raise $31 million in revenue a year. Instead, the tax destroyed 330 jobs in jewelry manufacturing and 1,470 in the aircraft industry, in addition to the thousands destroyed in the yacht industry. Those job losses cost the government a total of $24.2 million in unemployment benefits and lost income tax revenues. The net effect of the luxury tax was a loss of $7.6 million in fiscal 1991, which means Congress' projection was off by $38.6 million. The Joint Economic Committee concluded that the value of jobs lost in just the first six months of the luxury tax was $159.6 million.
Congress repealed the luxury tax in 1993 after realizing it was a job killer and raised little net revenue. Why did congressional dreams of greater revenues turn into a nightmare? Kennedy, Mitchell and their congressional colleagues simply assumed that the rich would act the same after the imposition of the luxury tax as they did before and that the only difference would be more money in the government's coffers. Like most politicians then and now, they had what economists call a zero-elasticity vision of the world, a fancy way of saying they believed that people do not respond to price changes. People always respond to price changes. The only debatable issue is how much and over what period.
Here's my question for you: Is it likely that in the two decades since 1990, American human nature has changed? If Congress imposes a luxury tax on corporate jets and other luxury items, will Americans behave differently this time? In other words, can we expect federal tax revenues to rise and unemployment to fall as a result of Obama's tax proposal?
I don't believe that Obama is dumb enough to believe that a tax on corporate jets would be a revenue generator. His agenda is to inspire envy and resentment against wealthy Americans as a tool in pursuit of his higher-tax agenda.

It is not that they will not do it, they CANNOT do it.

The stunning decline of Barack Obama 2011 edition: 10 key reasons why the Obama presidency continues to melt down
1. Obama isn’t trusted on the economy (BECAUSE HE IS INCOMPETENT)
2. Obama isn’t serious about the budget deficit (IT GOES AGAINST HIS NEED TO SPEND AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE OF THE PEOPLES' MONEY)
3. Obama’s foreign policy remains a weak-kneed and confusing mess (LIBS DO NOT BELIEVE IN RIGHT AND WRONG, THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT CALL ANYONE OUT OR MAKE JUDGEMENTS AGAINST WHAT OTHERS DO.)
4. Independents are deserting the president (THE MUSHY MIDDLE ARE EVEN BAILING ON THE O)
5. A majority of Americans still reject Obamacare (BECAUSE IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN TAKING MONEY FROM SOME TO PANDER TO OTHERS)
6. The Obama presidency looks increasingly out of touch with the American people (HE DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE)
7. Conservatism is growing stronger in America (REALITY ALWAYS GETS THE FINAL VOTE)
8. The Tea Party has been a stunning success (YOU BET WE HAVE)
9. The Obama presidency comes across as bitter, nasty and divisive (THIS IS MY FAVORITE REASON)
10. The liberal elites are turning on the president (LIBERALS WILL TURN ON ANYONE BECAUSE THEIR ATTENTION SPAN IS SO SHORT AND CAN NEVER BE SATISFIED, NO MATTER WHAT)

Brutal Takedown of Obama in NYT
The Left is angry because if anyone was going to be able to bring about their so called equality based utopia, Obama should have. The extreme opposition such as the Tea Party and now the S&P rating agency to the policies of the far left have put a stop to even "him", and they do not like it. They are facing failure on all fronts to not merely Obama but to the policies 'they' want to press upon the citizens of the United States.
Liberals shoot the downgrade messenger
Liberals shoot the downgrade messenger
Having worked directly for an extreme liberal for a while I know exactly how they always "shoot the messenger". Bring up an issue that needs attention and they come at 'you' for merely bringing it up. All I can think is that they take it personal as an attack against their leadership when it simply is someone trying to solve a problem. By the way, once I figured this out I did not work there much longer.

Raging At The Dying Of Their Light
Raging At The Dying Of Their Light
"I suppose if I had coasted through my adult life secure in the belief that I was destined to rule others, that my thinking was the height of sophisticated reason and scientific logic, and I began to notice that that game was up, I'd be rude at dinner parties, too. I mean they are just raging at the dying of their light, aren't they?"

The debt downgrade
The debt downgrade
I agree it was a good thing that we got downgraded. A while back I had some bumper stickers printed up that say: "Reality always get the final vote". The downgrade fits the quote, don't you think?

Obama Golfs After Downgrade
In my opinion this man disrespects his duty, his title, and the people he is supposed to represent. His nonchalant ways give the impression that all this economy, jobs, credit downgrade stuff is either below his direct attention or it may be that he just does not concern himself with such details of his daily tasks as they are merely what goes on between his time at leisure activities. This is the 'permanent vacation' president. I just hope he gets his permanent walking papers in 2012. Even if he does lose in 2012, I still hate the idea that we have to support this disgrace for a president for the rest of his life.
S&P Chief: America Must Curb Entitlement Spending
We finally heard from someone who is not afraid of Obama and his administration. It was good to hear that he could not be swayed by Tim Geithner and his 'make it up as you go along' accounting numbers. He did not care about parties, only that the US governmental policies at this point are heading the country in the wrong direction and his credit rating department has to call it as they see it. According to him, we got a downgrade with a negative outlook. I would call that a slap in the face to Obama with a back hand to match.

Reid: S&P downgrade backs Dems' call for more revenue - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room
It's like a broken record with these democrats. How someone can ignore the fact that taking money out of the economy by taxing people and reducing even more their ability to buy things, is beyond me.
Lack of adequate revenue is a symptom of the underlying problem which is overspending the peoples' money. A dem would say the symptom is lack of revenue and the underlying problem is that taxes are too low. You can never reconcile a thought process that lacks basic common sense. They must be defeated and not allowed to return to power, ever.

69% believe global warming is a fraud

I'd say that a pretty good consensus basically saying those pushing global warming as a reason to do anything are nothing more than hucksters and snake oil salesman. They should be run out of town on the stagecoach of ridicule...

DeMint: Geithner must go - The Hill's On The Money
Jim DeMint is right on in this article. Not only is Little Timmy Geithner a tax cheat he is incompetent at assessing risk. Maybe he thought no one would have the guts to call him out, but S&P just did. This whole administration should be continuously be called out for the complete lack of understanding of economics, business, profits, incentives, etc. I hope this downgrade is the wake up call all the fence sitters need to finally call Obama and his policies what they are; AN UNMITIGATED DISASTER ON AMERICA THE LIKES WE HAVE NEVER SEEN...

No Grand Bargains with Democrats
http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/08/no_grand_bargains_with_democrats.html
THERE COMES A POINT WHERE YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THAT TRYING TO FIND LOGIC IN THE ILLOGICAL IS A WASTE OF TIME. WHEN PEOPLE ARE WRONG, THEY ARE WRONG. IF THEY CANNOT BE CONVINCED WITH FACTS, THEY SHOULD SIMPLY BE AVOIDED AND LIMITING THEIR DAMAGE SHOULD BE THE ORDER OF THE DAY. WE HAVE GIVEN THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT FOR FAR TOO LONG AND IT IS TIME TO START SIMPLY BYPASSING THEM AND THEIR IDEAS.
"Conservatives should be no less resolved than FDR. Vanquishing Democrats next year is essential to righting the nation. Driving a legislative agenda in 2013 that restores lost liberties and frees Americans to be wealth-producers by transforming and limiting government isn't a choice. "

THIS U.S. CITIZEN (Press Release)
My goal with this blog - as I have never been a "blogger"- is to make my comments as short as possible and directly make my point. I hope you enjoy the sharp commentary and I look forward to hearing from you as well. Finally, please consider getting a copy of my book as I was able to go into greater detail in that format.
The following is my press release for the book I published in 2010.
THIS U.S. CITIZEN: Thoughts and Concerns of a United States Citizen argues that citizens and taxpayers alike should become more involved in the political process and his Tea Party Handbook can help show why and how to do it. The author seeks to identify the factors that made the United States a preeminent superpower and warns against recent trends that he believes are leading the country in the wrong direction. According to the author, elected officials can no longer be trusted to represent the interests of the American people. Citing recent history as evidence, he contends that the U.S. is facing mounting problems for which the average taxpayer will be expected to bear the cost. The solution, he argues, lies in continuous and committed citizen oversight of the government and its officials. He urges readers to become informed on the issues, get involved in the process and stay involved in the long term. "I was inspired to write this book by the town hall meetings which took place in the fall of 2009," The author says. "I believe elected officials treated hardworking, average citizens with contempt and dismissed their concerns as to the direction of our country. It was my duty as a citizen to voice my concerns." The book includes a discussion on Benjamin Franklin and his concerns for the future of liberty in America. It also aims to describe the mentality of early Americans and how their self reliance, values, ideals and principles kept the country strong for future generations. Based on that premise, He offers suggestions for policy changes that he argues would set America back on track to greatness.
